Video editing is a daunting task to consider, especially for those of us who haven’t experienced any formal training in the area.

It’s so easy to spot a cheesy or sloppily-put-together video, so thinking about going through mounds of clips to get down to a perfectly polished product is overwhelming.

Well, the good news is that there’s a solution for those of us who feel that way! Lumen5 has entirely gotten rid of the problem through the original service they provide.

Anyone who is having to produce videos on a regular basis without the proper time or know-how to do so will want to know who Lumen5 is and what they’re offering.

The people behind Lumen5 realize that internet content is increasingly moving towards videos over blog posts and the like.

More and more in this day and age, moving pictures are necessary to grab and hold your audience’s attention.

So, they’ve simplified it by making a way for businesses to convert text into video through a multi-tiered web-based service.

The best part about it is that if you just want to try it out for a while before taking the deep plunge or if you just need the basics, they have a free service.

Of course, it is limited; for instance, exports are at a maximum of 480p (the Business tier exports to HD).

Despite this, they’ll still give you access to the Standard Library (where Lumen5 sources most of its shots and photos) and its popular themes.

However, if you have one of the paid tiers, you also have access to the Getty image library.

We’ll be giving a full overview of what Lumen5 has to offer through all its tiers so that you can see if it will fit your needs.


How does Lumen5 work?

Setup

You can do one of two things: paste new content into Lumen5 directly or simply give them the link to the post you want to convert.

Next, Lumen5 will present your text on the left of the webpage with slides (or scenes, as Lumen5 calls them) on the right.

The text is broken down in chunks, and as you hover your mouse over the words, Lumen5 will suggest a scene to fit it.

Of course, you’re free to choose as you prefer. You’re also able to edit the final product once it has been added to your project.

Text Editing

You’ll choose a section of text to add to a scene and position as well as highlight words as you prefer.

Lumen5 will automatically show which media is most relevant for a particular section of text when you click on it; if you don’t like their suggestion, you’re free to access the Media Libraries and make your own selection.

You can also add your own clips and photos if you like, and if there was any media already in your blog post, it will be available for your use in the Media section as well.

So, once you’ve selected the perfectly appropriate background, you can click and drag it from the Media section and drop it wherever you want.

You can also trim video clips and use just the part you want. On the other hand, there’s very little you can do with photo animation.

Lumen5 really only gives you the option to “Zoom in” or “Pan down” and such.

Trimming

Basically, with Lumen5, you won’t get much closer to actual video editing.

Editing

If the text you’ve selected won’t fit into a single scene, Lumen5 will automatically create sub-scenes for you with the same background as the original one.

The editing choices are quite limited, but if you’d prefer a new background, you’ll just have to copy the text into a new scene or make the text shorter to fit within the original scene.

Customization

If you’re a paying customer, you’ll be able to customize your own look instead of being locked into a built-in theme.

Otherwise, the only other ways you can customize your work is to choose where the text goes on the scene and what words to highlight, if you’re wanting to highlight any.

Music and Effects

One of the best features about Lumen5 is the thousands of royalty-free songs it gives you to choose from.

You can search them by name, tag, and even mood – you can simply search the word angry, sad, happy, etc.

Or you can add your own song, but unfortunately, you cannot trim the score. However, the team is actually currently working on adjusting this feature!

Now, you might be thinking that this still sounds a bit too complicated for you. If that’s the case, just check out Lumen5’s Instant Video tab.

All you have to do is give it an RSS feed – unless it has already detected one from a previous URL you used –, and it will offer you a list of potential videos based on various articles.

Once you choose one, everything we just talked about will be completed for you! Then, you can use it as is, or refine it if there are some changes you’d like to make.

If a more personal touch is what you’re wanting, you’ll fine more customization options in the paid tiers.

For example, you’ll be able to add Watermark, switch to a different theme, or even make your own there with whatever fonts, text animations (out of 3 options), highlight and background colors, and scene transitions (out of 4 options) you’d like.

Additional Features

If you’re working for a business who has multiple clients, you’re probably thinking about how much work it will entail to change all of these settings every time you want to produce a video for a different company.

Good news! Lumen5 also has Brand Presets where settings are stored and switching between clients or companies is simple.

If you’re in the top tier, you can even invite as many teammates as you want to work on the videos.

Once your work is done, it is rendered, which can take some time if your video is long. Once this is done, you’re ready to upload the video onto Facebook or download it to your computer.

What makes Lumen5 unique as a video editor is that you’re not really even editing the video.

It’s basically all drag and drop. The most editing that’s involved is just when you trim an animated background.

And with it comes a huge media library where the intelligent text analyzer selects the most logical background for your content.

Pricing

The pricing, of course, depends on which tier you choose.

You can pay nothing for the limited options or start at $19/month for the Starter package, perfect for bloggers & solopreneurs creating social videos.

The next option is Premium, which is $49/month and includes photos from Getty and Shutterstock, better video resolution, and font and color options.

The most popular option is the Business package which is $149/month which includes everything in Premium plus 160 million photos and videos from the marketplace, 180 assets each year, and gives you the option to upload your company’s font, music, and custom outro.

How to Create Your First Video with Lumen5

Step 1: Copy and paste the article in the Start with some text box. Click OK.

Step 2: Next choose a video format. For this tutorial, I will create a landscape video.

Scroll down untill you see the YouTube 16:9 ratio. Since this is a trial version, we can only create a video with a limited duration.

 

Step 3: Choose a theme for your video.

For this video, I went with a theme with an organic color scheme to be consistent with the article.

 

Step 4: Customise your video content.

On the far left panel are your primary video settings. You can search the media library, preview soundtracks, make edits the theme and format.

One thing I found confusing with Lumen5 is editing the script.

It’s not intuitive and user-friendly compared to Content Samurai.

On the right-hand side beside each slide, you can preview the scene, change how the text is displayed, increase and decrease the time for each scene.

Clicking on more options will open a window allowing the user to:

  • add an opacity
  • add a background animation
  • manually edit the background video

Step 5: Preview and Publish

Once you’re happy with the video, click the Preview button to double-check the video before exporting.

In case you forget, you can click Select Track to add a music track before rendering your video. You can also filter the music tracks by clicking on mood.

Clicking on Publish will activate a list. You can choose to share a link to your video, Download your video or even share it to Facebook.

For this tutorial, I will download the video directly onto the desktop.

How to Create a Video Using Content Samurai

Step 1: Create a New Video

Click on the blue button to create your first video.

As you can see, Content Samurai offers many templates for different types of video formats and supported platforms.

For this tutorial, we will focus on Video from a blog post.

Similar to the Lumen5 video, I chose a template with a color scheme similar to the article.

Click on Use This Template to start adding your content.

Step 3: Insert Script

For this next step, copy and paste your article. I will use the same article from earlier.

Always start a sentence on a separate line. Content Samurai will generate separate scenes so that the content is easy to digest by the audience.

Click create scenes for your video.

Don’t forget to give your video a title.

Click on edit your scenes to move onto the next step.

 

Step 4: Editing your scenes

On the left, you can search for images and videos. You can toggle what type of content you want by switching between Clips or Images.

If you can’t find the right image or video, you can click on the Uploads tab to upload your own images/videos.

You can also drag and drop your files in the dotted box.

Clicking on the style tab will allow you to change the text, color, weight, highlight text and background color.

Changing any of these settings will affect every scene of the video.

On each scene, you can also change the text position.

When you are happy with how each scene looks, click Add Voice Track To Your Video.

 

Step 5: Voice Track Options

With Content Samurai, you can create a video with just music or you can add an automated voice that reads your script.

If you don’t like how the automated voices sound, you can record your own voice track.

For this tutorial, I will use Luke as the voice track for this video.

Click Preview Your Video to move onto the next step.

 

Step 6: Preview Your Video

In this last step, you can choose from over 125,000 music tracks, add your own watermark, adjust the music volume, track volume and track speed.

I’m not a huge fan of the automated voice, with a few adjustments, we can make it sound a bit more natural.

Reduce the Voice Track Speed to 95%.

You can also adjust each scene by clicking Manually Adjust Timing.

When you’re ready to export, click Looks Good, Continue…

To download your video, click Generate Your Video.

Once Content Samurai finishes rendering the video, click Download Your Video to save it on your onto your desktop.

How to Make Dropshipping Video Ads with Content Samurai in 2019

Content Samurai has recently released an update to their video creating software.

You can now create Viral Style videos with just a few clicks!

In today’s post, I will show you how to create viral style dropshipping videos using Content Samurai.

How to Create Viral Style Videos with Content Samurai

Step 1

Collect all the images and videos you need for your video. Place them in a folder so it makes finding and uploading your files easier later on.

You can screenshot the product images from the supplier. Make sure the images are high quality and not pixelated.

Do a quick search on YouTube for your product.

Sometimes I can find videos already made for the product that I am going to test with Facebook Ads.

Click on filters and check Creative Commons.

You can reuse and edit videos under Creative Commons without getting into trouble for any copyright.

For this tutorial, I will use the pocket fishing rod. Make sure you see Creative Commons before you download the YouTube video.

Copy and paste the YouTube URL and head over to a website that converts your video to MP4. Just do a quick Google search and you will see a whole list of them.

Download your video and save it in the same folder with your images.

Step 2

Login Content Samurai and click Create A New Video.

Now you should see the Template interface.

You can also create videos for your blog posts, sales videos, videos for your online course and property listing videos. 

For today’s tutorial, we will stick with the Video for social media.

You can preview a template by clicking on the thumbnail. Click the play button and it should start the demo video of the template.

I will choose the Blue Bars template for this tutorial. Click Use This Template to get started.

Step 3

Next, type or copy and paste your script.

Content Samurai will automatically create scenes for each sentence. 

Just make sure each new sentence is on a separate line.

Click Edit Your Scenes when you’re ready to move onto the next step.

Step 4

In this section of Content Samurai, you can edit each scene of your video.

You can also upload your own images and video clips easily by clicking on Uploads tab. 

Just make sure you check the Clips or Images before uploading.

So right now I have a total of three scenes. 

I will show you how to add new scenes. Just click on the Add new scene above the scene previewer.

From my image library, I can add different images of the product.

I can also change the text above and below the video. Just double click on the bar and it will allow you to start typing.

You can also adjust the background image by clicking Adjust background image. Drag the side to zoom into the image.

Make sure your Transition effects are consistent. You can check by clicking Transitions.

This will display all the different effects you can apply to your scene.

Clicking on the Style tab will give you more options for adjusting the text style.

Once you have finished editing each scene, click Add Voice Track To Your Video.

With this next step, you can add a music track, automated voice, record or upload your own voice track.

Depending on your budget, you can hire someone from Fiverr to record a voice-over which you can use for your dropshipping ad videos.

For this tutorial, I will download a separate music track and upload it to Content Samurai.

Click Preview Your Video and it will take you to the next step.

Step 6

In the Preview section of Content Samurai, you can make the final adjustments to the video before rendering.

Since I used my own video clip, I will have to manually adjust the timing for the scene so that it doesn’t cut off abruptly. 

Click Manually Adjust Timing and it will expose the timeline. All you have to do is drag the green line to move each scene.

Next to the green line is the timing for each scene.

Since the video of the fishing rod demonstration is around 14 seconds long, all I have to do was drag the green line 14 seconds to the right. 

It was a bit confusing for me at first but it is really easy once you get the hang of it. 

You can do this for each scene. Click Hide Timing when you’re done.

Now I will show you how to upload your own music track. Click on My Music and Upload Music.

Once your music track has uploaded successfully, check the tick on the left to apply it to your video.

If the music track is playing too loud, you can manually adjust the volume by dragging the Music Volume slider.

Before we finish up, I will show you how you can add a watermark to your video for more branding. 

You want your videos to be consistent with your store’s branding to create more trust and perceived value for your products. 

It’s also a great way to protect your videos from other lazy dropshipper’s who steal other people’s videos!

Click on Watermark > Create New Watermark.

I quickly created a logo for this demonstration to show you how easy it is to add your business logo as a watermark.

You can also adjust the Scale and Opacity so that the watermark is not too distracting.

You can move the watermark by using your mouse and dragging it the position you like.

If you would like to edit any scene, just click on Scenes on your left-hand side and it will take you back to each individual screen.

Once you’re satisfied and ready to render your video, click Looks Good, Continue…

You will see a Generate Your Video button appear. Click that button and Content Samurai will start working its magic.

When that is done, click Download Your Video and you are all done!

Now, you might be thinking, “do I have to start all over again if I want to use a different template
?”.

The answer is…no!

One of the cool features I love about Content Samurai is the ability to duplicate my video without having to start from the beginning again. I will show you how to do this.

When you’re back at the My Videos dashboard, find the video you would like to reuse. 

Hover your mouse over the thumbnail to expose the Clone option.

All you have to do now is click Template and choose a different template you would like to use.

However keep in mind, you may have to resize your images again so that it sits nicely in a square format.

How to Create Simple Videos for Local Businesses Using Content Samurai in 2019

I have been using Content Samurai for quite some time now. 

It’s an awesome tool that has helped me turn my blog posts into videos. 

I can upload these videos onto YouTube and other video sharing sites to create more backlinks for my blogs.

However, you can also use Content Samurai to create videos for other people and their businesses. 

In today’s post, I will show you how you can use Content Samurai to create videos for local businesses and make yourself some extra money.

If you keep reading till the end, I have also included the demo video just to prove to you how cool Content Samurai is.

Let’s dive in.

How to Create Simple Videos Using Content Samurai

Step 1

In this example, I will use a real estate business as part of the demonstration.

The first step is to head over to Google, type in real estate and “your location”.

For this tutorial, I will be using Sydney as my location. 

Here is a quick tip, I like to skip the first page and focus on the second page onwards

The reason why I like to start like this is that most of the businesses on the second page of Google are not really optimized for the real estate keyword, or they simply do not have an online marketing strategy in place.

This is also an opportunity for you to upsell your own digital marketing services for more money.

Step 2

Analyze their website and social media profiles (if any).

Having a quick look at their Facebook profile, I noticed that they don’t have any video content for their real estate listings.

Instead, they only share the URL directly on their newsfeed.

We can see that a static image is not very engaging combined with all that text.

Step 3

Now head back to the business website, and choose one property listing to use with Content Samurai.

Save all the images onto your desktop. You will use these images for each scene of the video.

Step 4

Login Content Samurai, once you are in the dashboard, click Create A New Video.

Now you should see the Template interface.

On your left-hand side, you will see the different types of templates we can use to create our video.

For this tutorial, we will focus on Property Listing Square 1 video. 

Click on the tab with the house icon and it will display all the templates we can use for our property listing video.

If you would like to see what each template can do, just click on the thumbnail and it will expose the demo video.

Click Use This Template and the fun is about to begin!

Step 5

Now you should be in the script area of your video.

In this section, you will copy and paste the text from the property listing.

You can be selective with the amount of text you want to be displayed throughout the video.

Make sure the script matches up with the images. You don’t want to confuse the audience.

Here’s a quick tip, you can start each sentence or phrase on a new line.

This tells Content Samurai to start a new scene to keep the text legible and not cluttered.

Click Create Scenes when you’re done with the script.

Step 6

Remember the images we saved earlier? 

In this next step, you will have to upload them onto Content Samurai. 

If you don’t, Content Samurai will add it’s own default stock content.

Click the Uploads Tab, check Images and click Upload Image

Depending on how big your images are, it will take a few seconds. 

Step 7

Once the images have finished uploading, you can edit and make adjustments for each scene.

You can change the text location by clicking the grid icon

On the left side panel, you can also adjust the text color, text weight and the text highlight color and weight.

As you can see the text for this scene is covering the image in the background.

You can easily adjust the image by clicking Adjust background image. 

Now you can zoom in and also manually adjust the image by dragging with the mouse.

I could have aligned the text towards the top, however I will be adding the business logo in the corner as a watermark. 

Don’t worry, I will also show you how you can easily add a watermark to your video.

When you’re happy with each scene, hit the Add Voice Track To Video to move onto the next step.

Step 8

Now you should see the Voice Track Options interface.

You can choose to use a music track, an automated voice or even record your own voice track for the video.

 

For this tutorial, I’ll stick to using a music track. 

Click Preview Your Video and it will take you to the next step.

Step 9

You’re almost done!

Before we finish up with this tutorial, I will show you how you can easily create a watermark to add more branding to your videos.

Click on the Watermark tab next to Music.

Hopefully, the logo you are using is a PNG file without a background.

I had to remove the white background in Photoshop before adding it into the video.

Next, click Create New Watermark

You can adjust the position, size and opacity of the watermark. Click Save Watermark when you’re ready.

I like to reduce the opacity so that the logo is not too distracting. We want the audience to focus on our content.

Step 10

We’re almost done.

Click on the Music tab next to the Watermark.

In this section, you can choose a music track to suit the video. You can also preview the track by clicking the play button.

If each scene is playing too fast or too slow, you can manually adjust the timing. 

You can also adjust the music volume by dragging the Music Volume slider.

Click Looks Good, Continue… when you’re satisfied with the settings.

Step 11

Now you should able to see a Generate Your Video button. 

Click that button and Content Samurai will start to render your video within a few minutes.

Once the video has finished rendering, you can download your video onto your desktop.

All done!

Conclusion

You can use the Content Samurai app to create as many videos as you like within the 7-day free trial.

You can offer these videos to florists, physiotherapists, dentists and coffee shops. It doesn’t have to be just real estate agents.

How to Make a Real Estate Listing Video Using Content Samurai

Google is always updating their algorithms which makes SEO more difficult to gain traction especially if you’re new to digital marketing space.

However, there are other methods of generating more traffic. This can be accomplished by video marketing.

In today’s post, I will show you how you can Content Samurai to create your own real estate listing videos quickly.

If you’re a real estate agent, you can use these videos to promote your business and market your listings on your social media profiles.

Video is becoming more popular and it’s a quick way to grab your audience’s attention when they’re scrolling through their newsfeeds.

Let’s dive in!

How to Create a Real Estate Listing Video using Content Samurai

Step 1

Find a real estate listing to use for your video. 

 

Most real estate listings will include images and copy which you can easily add to Content Samurai.

Step 2

Login Content Samurai.

From the dashboard, click Create A New Video.

On the left side panel, click Property listing video.

You will now see all the templates you can use on the right side of your screen.

You can also choose between the standard landscape template or squared template for social media platforms.

Clicking on a template thumbnail will show you a demo video.

For this demonstration, I will use the square template.

Just click on the template and then hit the Use This Template button to get started.

Step 3

Now, from the property listing, just highlight the copy and paste it into the text field in Content Samurai.

 

You can also enter a title for your video.

 

Tip: Make sure each sentence is on a new line. This will tell the app to start a new slide.

Once you’re done, click Edit Scenes.

Step 4

Content Samurai will automatically add their own media files. We don’t want to use this so we will upload our own content. 

Head back to the property listing and save the images directly onto your desktop.

In Content Samurai, click on the Uploads tab > Images. 

You can click Upload Image or drag them into the Drop Images Here.

Step 5

Now it’s the fun part. 

Once the images have finished uploading, you can select which images you would like to use in each scene.

You can also adjust the color and position of the text.

 

Clicking the Grid will show you the position of the text. 

 

For this example, I changed the text highlight color by simply using the color picker tool.

 

You can also edit the Transition effect by clicking the checkered icon.

 

Once you have finished, click Add Voice Track To Your Video.

Step 6

This next step is optional.

You can add a music clip to the video and also an automated voice to read the text of each slide.

If you don’t like how the automated voice sounds, you can record your own voice over as long as you have a high-quality microphone. 

For this demonstration, I’ll just add music only. 

Hit Preview Your Video when you’re done. 

Step 7

If you have a business logo, you can upload it and it will automatically display on each scene.

For this demo, I made a quick logo to show you how easy it is to add a watermark to your video.

 

You can also adjust the scale and opacity of the watermark.

Positioning is very easy by simply dragging the logo with the mouse. 

Hit Save Watermark when you’re happy with the settings.

If you find each scene are playing too slow, you can adjust the scene timer.

 

You can also use our own music track by clicking on the My Music tab and Upload Music from your desktop.

For this video demo, I will stick to the default music tracks supplied by Content Samurai.

While previewing, if you noticed there’s an error on one of the scenes, you can hit the Scenes tab on the left side panel. 

This will allow you to edit each scene directly without adjusting the script again.

Once you’re happy with everything, click Looks Good, Continue…

Step 8

Now you should see a Generate Your Video button.

Click that button and the Content Samurai app will start rendering your video.

This may take a few minutes. 

Sometimes the app may freeze, just hit refresh on your browser and it should restart the rendering process again, but this time it won’t freeze. 

Step 9

Once the video has finished rendering, you will see Download Your Video button.

Click that button and save your video.

Now you’re all done! How easy was that? Within a few minutes, we have video content that we can use to promote on our social media profiles.

Dropshipping has seen a wave of popularity in 2018.

There has been an increase in the number of Shopify gurus claiming to be making hundreds and thousands of dollars from dropshipping products from China.

They often create videos flashing their expensive cars and to try and persuade you to buy their course.

These gurus will make it sound as though their course holds the secret to achieving the lavish lifestyle overnight.

On the other hand, you have genuine guys like Arie Scherson.

I’ve been following Arie on Youtube since his first videos about dropshipping and it’s great to him progress throughout the year.

Arie constantly delivers value to his followers and has the results to back up his teachings.

He consistently uploads fresh new content with actionable strategies for you to implement straight away in your own business.

I remember he shared one of his stores used as a case study which he had to close down because many of his followers were copying exactly what he was doing.

His eCom Inner-Circle course is currently priced at $397 and is accessible on the Teachable platform.

Teachable is an amazing platform with high quality videos to provide you with the best learning new skills.

You can watch all the videos of a course on most devices as long as you have an internet connection.

Even though $397 is not a cheap price for the average person, it does however deliver a lot of value compared to other courses priced at $997+.

To access the eCom Inner-Circle sales page, you can find a link on one of Arie’s YouTube videos which links you to the sales page.

Its clean, simple and explains what to expect when purchasing his course.


eCom Inner Circle Review

Module 1: Warm Welcome!

In the first module, Arie welcomes you with a few videos and introduces you to the course and what to expect.

It is also great to see Arie mentioning about updating his course and Facebook strategies regularly.

You will only pay a one time fee and receive unlimited updates from Arie.

He does not charge any extra fees for updated strategies which shows that he cares about his students instead of making a quick dollar.

When learning any new skill, it’s important to make notes and take action rather than rushing through the course.

I made the same mistake of trying to consume as much information as I can and not taking action.

This lead to information overload which made everything much more overwhelming.

Analysis paralysis is real people!

Module 2: Store Setup

In the next module of the course, Arie will teach you how to setup your dropshipping store.

He further explains whether you should start a general or niche store.

He breaks down the information so that it is easy to understand and digest.

Similar to other dropshipping courses I have come across, I’ve learnt you should start off with a general store to find winning products before investing money into a niche specific store.

Arie shows different examples of other e-commerce business to give you ideas and inspiration for your own store.

Module 3: Product Research – Finding 4,5 and 6 Figure Products

Aire teaches you how to find winning products. The strategies will help you find products that can make you 4,5 or even 6 figures.

In total, Arie will show you six different methods for finding profitable products.

In the first few videos, the strategies covered are suitable for beginners with the extra videos covering more advanced methods.

Arie also shares some information on how to find relatable products to increase your store inventory and make you more sales through upsells.

Arie also recommends a software called ProductListGenie.io which costs $97 per month.

If you’re just starting out with dropshipping, you don’t really need this software.

Update: Arie does not own this software. It is currently owned by Gabriel Beltran and his partner Coach Gianny.

In one of the final videos, Arie will discuss about the difficulties of finding your first winning product. This is to give you a heads up in case you do not see the results you expected from the course.

Module 4: Instagram Influencer Marketing

Update: Arie has updated this section to include Instagram Influencer Marketing

In this section, you will learn about Instagram influencer marketing and how to find the profitable influencers to collaborate with.

He also shows you how you can get the best ROI from your influencer shoutouts.

This section is very short and the videos are straight to the point.

Module 5: Understanding Facebook Ads

This module is more theory based. Arie will give an overview as to why Facebook Ads is his preferred traffic source for dropshipping.

He also shows you an overview of how you will test your products, how to budget and organize your adsets so that you can easily understand the data and analytics.

Arie also teaches you how to manage failing campaigns.

He also explains what BEP is and why it is important. I haven’t seen any other courses that cover this.

In the last few videos, Arie will show you the importance of product cost percentage and the best ways to get consistent results with Facebook Ads by lowering your ad spend.

Although he does provide a lot of value in this section about Facebook but it is more limited compared to eCom Elites by Franklin Hatchett.

Module 6: Facebook Ads

This module is more of an introduction to Facebook Ads.

If you’re a complete beginner, Arie will walk you through the process of setting up your business account and installing a Facebook pixel for tracking user data.

He then shows you how to create a Facebook Page for your store followed by a video ad tutorial.

Knowing how to create high engaging ad videos is very important with driving targeted and lowering your ad spend.

Facebook loves to reward video content with lots of user engagement.

Arie also includes and over the shoulder demonstration of creating your first campaign and what kinds of data you should look for after 3 days of testing ads.

There’s also a video about split testing ad copy and thumbnails followed by videos about scaling winning ads and how to lower ad cost and everything there is to know about PPE.

Module 7: Advanced Facebook Ads – Going From 5 Figures To 6 Figures

This section of the course is a follow up to the previous module.

This module is more for dropshippers who have started making money through Facebook Ads.

Arie will teach you how to setup your campaigns for optimal scaling.

He will also teach you how to create custom and lookalike audiences, how to retarget, micro testing to scale your store from 5 to 6 figures and manual bidding.

There’s also a few videos about caste study which can be used for some inspiration.

Module 8: Maximizing Profits With Back-End Systems

In this module, Arie will teach you how you can make more money in the back end of your business.

He will show you how to use Shopify plugins to increase your sales and profits.

Arie will also show you how to setup an email sequence for people abandoning their cart.

Abandon carts will always happen on any e-commerce store so it is important to win those customers back.

There’s also a video about using Manychat to retarget Facebook users with no extra costs.

This is an interesting tip I haven’t seen mentioned in other e-commerce courses.

Arie also shows you how you can double your sales using Zipify.

Module 9: Building A Long Term Brand

Building a brand is very important for long term success with any business.

A brand helps you stand out from your competitors.

Arie only recommends building a brand once you have found winning products from your general stores.

He will also teach you how to outsource and create a team of virtual assistants to help you scale your store.

Arie also shows you how to private label your own branded products so that you can sell these products for a higher profit margin.

Arie also teaches you how to incorporate an affiliate program to your store to help with building brand awareness and generate organic traffic to your store.

Module 10: Resources

In this section of the course, Arie provides you with some case studies and templates which you can use as a guide.

Facebook Mastermind

Signing up to the course will give you access to a private Facebook group.

You can ask questions and interact with other like minded members, even Arie himself.

Its also a great place to fall back on incase you’re stuck.

Final Thoughts

Overall, Arie does provide a lot of value and quality content throughout his course. The only thing I found kind of strange is the use of PowerPoint slides to show stats instead of showing the audience the data from his Facebook Ads manager.

With the current price tag of $397 and $997 for the VIP package  can be a little steep for beginners.

As an alternative, I highly recommend eCom Elites by Franklin Hatchett.

eCom Elties is perfect for beginners who would like to learn more about e-commerce and dropshipping.

The course itself has hours upon hours of valuable content for only $197.

Franklin also updates his course regularly so that you are always aware of the latest marketing strategies and changes to the ad platforms.

Shopify Responsive Theme Review: Is This the Best Shopify Theme in 2019?

What is the Shopify Responsive Theme?

The Responsive theme is a premium theme from Out of the Sandbox made for the Shopify e-commerce platform. This is a flexible and robust theme to suit a wide range of products and industry types.

The Responsive theme is highly customizable allowing you to modify the layout, typography and featured promotions in your store. The theme is designed to tell your brand’s story with simplicity and sophistication.

This theme comes in four different styles, New York, London, Paris, and San Francisco. Each style allows you to display full-width slideshows and centered focus on the menu navigation.

The only differences are the content sections that follow under the slideshow banners.

Let’s take a closer look at each theme style.

New York Theme Style

Classic style and very simple color palette. Professional and elegant. Makes you feel welcomed and valued as a customer.

Drop down menu for easier navigation and organizing content.

Under the slideshow is a section for a featured product.

Full-Screen banner for high-quality lifestyle photos of your products or services. Helps create perceived value and credibility and trust.

Under you can display customer testimonials. Creates credibility and social proof very important with doing business online.

Featured collection, Quick shop

Full-screen banner with video embed option. Great way to tell your brand’s story and its mission and values. Creates engagement and increases interaction with the user.

Towards the bottom, you can display the latest blog posts and an email sign up form. Collecting emails is important to make more money in the backend of your e-commerce business.

The Footer is kept simple, with most elements centered aligned. You can link your social media profiles to the social icons.

Displaying payment icons to let your customers know what type of payments you accept.

The product page is easy to navigate and to display the most important information above the fold.

You want to write product descriptions outlining the benefits of your products instead of the features.

Customers purchase on an emotional connection, so using persuasive descriptions to solve their pain points will convert theme faster.

London Theme Style

Minimalist template, with subtle styling that puts your products front and center.

The London style lets you feature two full-width tiles on the homepage. When a customer clicks on one of these tiles, they will be directed to a product page. It’s like having an interactive lookbook.

Below the fold, you can feature products, full-screen banners, blog posts.

Towards the bottom of the page, you can display customer testimonials.

The footer has a unique layout. The sign-up form is centered to attract the customer’s attention

Size guide, customer reviews, social sharing icons. A well-balanced product page layout to increase your conversions.

Product pages are where you will make your sales. The theme uses negative white spacing to create contrast with the background and other elements on the page.

Without cluttering up the page, customers can focus on the product images and Add To Cart button.

Paris Theme Style

In the Paris template, you can display a promotional banner at the top of your website to draw your customer’s attention to any special promotions or discount codes.

Below the navigation, there is a full-width slideshow which you can use to upload and showcase high-quality photos of your products.

On the banner, you can have a title and button. When a user clicks on the button, they will be taken to another page depending on which page you decide to link to.

For example, on the demo store clicking on the button will take you a Contact Us page.

Below the fold are more tiles, featured products and a full-width banner. These full-width banners are great for showcasing your products or to tell more about your brand’s personality.

Towards the bottom of the template, you can display your recent blog posts and an email sign up form for your customers.

Building an email list will help with producing more sales in the backend of your store without spending a lot of money on marketing.

The footer design is a bit strange. There is a big open space between the sides of the footer. I would have placed the email signup form in the center to make use of that space. This will also help push up more of the content above the fold.

The product page layout is very clean and simple. The light color palette combined with the serif typeface helps with creating a sophisticated look and feel. Remember to use colors that are related to your brand for consistency.

The FAQ page is a very useful feature of the theme. It helps reduce the number of emails you will receive from customers asking the same question.

When a customer needs help, they can click on a relevant tab and it will expose the answer to their question.

San Francisco Theme Style

The San Francisco template creates a warm and inviting Shopify store. It uses a soft color scheme and is complemented with a round typeface, adding to the template’s simplicity and clean design.

Navigation elements in the header are positioned to help the user navigate around your store without any difficulty.

Under the header, you can display a full-width slideshow. Similar to the Paris template, you can a title and button on the sideshow banners.

Below the slideshow is a section for you to talk more about your business.

In the main content area below the fold, you can display tiles which can be linked to your blog posts or product collections.

As we scroll further down, you can feature multiple products on the homepage to create interest and engagement with your visitors.

There also a section for another full-width banner and a Featured In logo’s area.

If your business was featured in an article or promoted by a partnership business, you can display the logo of the company to increase your credibility with new customers.

You can also link your Instagram account and it will display your latest posts on the home page. This helps increase social proof and a way to gain new followers and fans.

Showing customer testimonials also plays a huge role in creating trust with new customers.

I think the footer works very well on this template. The colors and font used to create a clean user interface.

There is also an area for an email sign up for customers to sign up to your newsletters and promotions.

Responsive Theme Key Features

The Responsive theme has several features to help you create a professional Shopify store without any coding required. Setting up your own store is super easy.

The Responsive theme currently has 28 reviews, averaging a 5 out of 5-star rating. This shows that the theme performs well and is a great investment for your online business.

You know you’re getting a quality product when it is from Out of the Sandbox. Reading through each review so far, I couldn’t find anything comments about the theme.

Here are some of the reasons why people are happy about this theme.

  • Service: The support team over at Out of the Sandbox are extremely helpful and responsive to their customer’s email. You don’t have to wait for days to fix any issues.
  • User-friendly: The theme looks great and performs flawlessly across different devices. More people are shopping online using mobile and tablet devices so it’s important to have a website that can adapt to these screen sizes.
  • Design: The design of the template is simple and navigating around the store is very intuitive. The template can be customized to suit your brand’s personality and business needs.

I have personally used the Responsive theme on one of my Shopify stores and it has been a satisfying experience.

I also noticed an increase in conversions switching over the Responsive theme from a free standard Shopify theme.

There have been times where I wanted a specific feature or edit done to my store. I reached out to their support team and they were glad to help me out without any extra fees!

Most beginners will opt for a free Shopify theme that is not optimized for conversions or mobile devices.

They will spend a lot of money on paid traffic but return no sales because their store is not optimized for conversions or user experience.

The Responsive theme comes with many useful features, aimed to increase your store’s conversion rate and provide a great user experience.

Many standard Shopify themes will require you to install extra marketing apps with recurring monthly fees. This can be challenging if you’re a beginner and not making consistent sales.

Overall, I will give the Responsive theme a 4.5 out of 5 stars rating.

This theme is one of the first premium themes I have personally purchased when I was looking for an upgrade.

I was using the free Brooklyn theme on one of my dropshipping stores but noticed it wasn’t working the way I wanted to.

So after weeks of debating, I took the leap and purchased Responsive. I must admit, it was one of the best investments I have ever made.

I now have a modern e-commerce store which didn’t cost me hundreds of dollars to build. Since conversions went up, the theme pretty much paid for itself.

I hope this review has helped you decide whether or not you should invest your money in a paid Shopify theme.

Shopify Retina Theme Review: The Award-winning Shopify Theme

What is the Shopify Retina Theme?

The Retina theme developed by Out of the Sandbox is an award-winning Shopify theme who was a recipient of the  Shopify Design Award. It is proven to be a popular choice for many Shopify store owners.

It’s highly customizable and comes with regular free updates to keep your store up to date with the latest sought after features.

Retina comes in four different theme styles which include Austin, Amsterdam, Melbourne, and Montreal. Each theme style has its similarities in functionality with small differences in the layout and framework.


Austin Theme Style

The Austin theme style has a vintage look and feel. It has a natural color scheme and elegant font style to create a welcoming experience for new visitors.

On the home page, you will see the fullscreen slideshow. You can display high-quality photos of your products to let the user know what your business is about.

When you click on the slideshow, it will take the user to the product page where they can browse all your products and categories.

The header menu will be in a fixed position when you scroll down the site. This makes it easier for your customers to navigate your store since the menu button is always visible. Great user experience on your store will keep your customers happy and increase your conversions.

Under the slideshow, there is a section to add some text and a call to action which directs the user to a product page.

Next, there is a section to connect different pages from your store. This can include a product page, blog page and the contact us page. Under this section, you can display featured products. I found it quite strange to display product filters on the home page.

Scrolling further down, you can display more full-width banners, featured products, and content blocks. Clicking on the banners or buttons will take you directly to a featured product page.

Towards the bottom of the page, you can display brand logos, Google Maps, business opening hours and a footer. There’s an area in the footer for your customers to sign up to your newsletter. You can use these emails to build a list which you can send email marketing material to make more sales in the backend of your business.

You can also link your social media profiles, display payment options and quick links to pages with information about your business.

I had a quick look at the product page and I must say, I am impressed with the layout and user interface. It is kept minimal, placing more focus on the product images and Add To Cart button.

The use of tabs will help you organize your product details and shipping information on the page.

The bold red helps draws your customers attention to click the button. You can also embed a video to your product page gallery.


Amsterdam Theme Style

The Amsterdam theme style is suitable for a one product Shopify store but also effective for Shopify stores with larger inventories.

This theme style is very clean and modern, using a simple color palette and round font style to keep all the text legible throughout the website.

The first thing you will notice is the promotional banner and full-width slideshow.

You can also enable a button to be on the banner to direct your visitors to a featured collection or product page.

Navigation in the header is similar to the Austin theme style.

Under the slideshow, there is a content area for you to highlight the features and benefits of your product.

Scrolling further down, you can display customer reviews, cards with a call to action which takes the customer to a product page, icons and an Instagram feed.

The product page uses a lot of white space to highlight the call to action and keep the layout clean.

You can display a secondary image gallery and a full-width banner to further demonstrate your products and brand personality.


Melbourne Theme Style

The Melbourne theme style is suitable for most e-commerce businesses.

It uses a vibrant color scheme combined with a tall font style to create a friendly user interface.

The first thing you will notice is the full-width slider above the fold. A slideshow can be used to feature stunning photos of your product. Just keep in mind to upload images with a solid color background to help create contrast with the background.

The main navigation is kept minimal, however, I think it’s a bit cluttered with the social icons placed so close to each other.  

When a customer starts to scroll down the page, the header will be visible throughout their shopping experience. The text color changes to create contrast with the background.

Below the slider is the main content area. Here you can display a short paragraph about your business, followed by tiles, As Featured In component and featured products which customers can have a Quick Look without having to leave the homepage.

Towards the bottom of the page, you can display an image gallery, content box with a call to action, blog posts, contact form and a link to your Instagram profile.

The product page is very similar to the Austin theme style. You can organize product information by using product page tabs. Standard Shopify themes usually won’t include this feature a requires you to create some code or install a third party app in the back end.

My recommendation is too not to use white text on a yellow button. The text is ineligible unless you change it to a darker color font.

Customers can also leave reviews and share your content using the social sharing icons.


Montreal Theme Style

The Montreal theme style uses a natural color palette and a web-friendly font style to create a clutter-free website.

The minimalist style is perfect for store owners or artists who are selling vintage or unique, handmade products.

On the homepage, you can upload images and display them in the full-width slideshow.

The main navigation in the header will remain visible when a user scrolls down on the homepage.

It uses a dark color scheme combined with a light round font style to create a balance between visual elements on the website.

The first thing you will notice is the full-width banner on the home page. You can also embed a YouTube or Vimeo video into the banner.

Clicking on the Play Video button will start the video in full screen.

Make sure you choose an image with a dark background to create a contrast between your primary navigation, business logo, and text.

Below the banner, you can display two featured products.

Clicking on the plus icon on each thumbnail will trigger a product page pop up.

Customers can add these products to their cart without having to access a separate product page.

Under the featured products, you can display another full-width banner to showcase your brand.

There’s also a section for your customers to enter their email address to receive newsletters from your business.

This is a great feature to help build your email list in the backend.

Scrolling further down, you can display customer testimonials, a slideshow, and unique selling points.

If your business or products was featured on any publications, there is a section for you to display the logos of these publishing companies.

This helps boost credibility and increases trust with new visitors to your store.

The footer section is very simple and clean.

You can link your social media profiles, display quick links to your collections and contact us page.

There’s also an email sign up form for your visitors to sign up to your newsletters if they missed the first.

The product page layout is simple and uses a pyramid style structure.

Most important information for conversions is placed above the fold.

Further down the page, you can display more information and images about the product.

The tabs make it easy to organize your product information and look amazing.

On standard Shopify themes, you will have to install a third party app to have this feature on your product page.

Most of the time they won’t look consistent with the rest of your site.

The responsiveness of the Parallax theme is seamless on when viewed on mobile.

The menu navigation in the header is simplified to create less clutter on the screen.

When you click on the hamburger icon, the page will slide to the right, revealing the menu.

It’s a pretty cool transition which I do not see used very often.

The parallax scrolling effect will be disabled on mobile view. Images in the background will remain static.

Aspen Theme Style

The Aspen theme style has a flexible framework which can be customized to suit your brand personality. It is suitable for businesses in the outdoors camping niche.

Aspen comes with powerful features, a user-friendly interface, and impactful imagery to leave a great first impression.

On the home page, you can display a slideshow to showcase your products and lifestyle photos. Each slide will automatically transition after a few seconds.

On one of the slides, you can enable a button to direct your customers to specific collections. This slide does not take up the whole screen like Vienna.

Just make sure your background images are dark enough to make your header navigation more visible.

I noticed the header is in a fixed position at the top of the screen when you scroll down the page.

Underneath the slideshow, you display unique selling points to build trust with your new visitors. You can use a combination of icons, images, and text.

Below the unique selling points, you can embed a YouTube or Vimeo video to your home page. Video content creates engagement and keeps visitors on your website longer. The longer they stay on your site, the more time you have build credibility.

Scrolling down further, there’s a section for displaying a quote, full-width banner and an email sign up field.

You can also display featured products, image blocks with text, featured media logos and a map to show customers where you are located if you have a physical address.

The product page is very simple and utilizes a lot of white space to put more emphasis on the product images and add to cart button.

The rounded font style helps with making the text legible on smaller screens.

Scrolling down the product page, you can display more images and feature points about your product.

I went ahead and added a product to test out the cart. I quite like the panel sliding in when you click on the cart icon. I noticed there is an area in the cart where customers can leave a note before they checkout

On mobile, the Aspen theme style looks amazing. The layout and content on the page are optimized to adapt to smaller screen sizes.

Los Angeles Theme Style

The Los Angeles theme style is perfect for fashion boutiques and accessories. It uses a black and white color palette and a combination of sans and sans serif font style.

Most people may think black and white is boring and outdated, but the Los Angeles styles does it with style.

Using this theme style will give you a timeless and chic looking store.

The first thing you will notice is the widescreen slideshow. This area is great to showcase your lifestyle photos to create engagement with your brand.

You can also display a button when clicked will take the user to a collections page.

The header menu is similar to the other styles. The menu is kept minimal to make it simple for users to navigate around your store.

Below the slideshow, you can display category tiles. This will take the customer to a specific collections page.

As you scroll down the theme, there are sections for you to display multiple full-width banners, featured products, As Seen In media logos and an image gallery.

Towards the bottom of the theme, you can display customer testimonials, Instagram feed, and an email signup form.

The product page is optimized to provide all the information a customer needs before purchasing your product.

There’s also a size guide you can enable on your product page to help customers decide which size they should order.

Below the banner, you can display category tiles which takes the customer to your collections, about us or blog page. This helps customers find what they are searching for on your store more quickly.

You can also display featured collections, products, secondary slideshow and image blocks with text.

If your customer scrolls all the way down the page and wants to search for something, they can do so with a secondary search bar.

When I was looking for a new theme for my dropshipping business, I noticed an ad on my Facebook newsfeed about Booster Theme.

I guess they targeted me since I visited other websites related to Shopify themes.

The Booster Theme is equipped with many features to maximize your conversion rate and average order value.

You can customize the layout, edit the font styles, colors, page format and many more.

Compared to a standard Shopify theme, you will have to pay extra fees every month if you wanted to certain features that are not included with the theme.

Booster has included all the addon’s you will need for a high converting store. This saves you money over time.


Booster Theme Demo Store

I spent a few minutes quickly browsing one of the demo stores available on their sales page. Overall, it looks very clean and user-friendly.

The first thing I noticed was the full-width banner at the top of the page. This is great for displaying high-quality photos of your products.

Below the banner, you can display products from specific collections such as your best sellers. Hovering over each product tile will display a button to view more details.

Under the products, you can upload images of your products and write a short description explaining the finer details.

Scrolling down further, you can display another web banner in the background with text. The parallax effect is a pretty cool feature.

Just below the banner, you can display product collections.

For example, if you are a dropshipping store selling watches, you can display collections for different types of watches.

You can also display customer testimonials to increase trust and credibility, collect your customer’s email addresses and display more images and text to further highlight your products and brand personality.

In the footer, you can display social icons, newsletter signup, payment icons and links to your pages containing important information about your business.

The Product page layout is very clean and clutter free. I love the simplicity and the twitch effect on the button to draw the customers attention to click on it.

You can also display related products to keep your customers shopping on your website longer.

I would use a better-designed set of trust badges. The ones used in the demo store looks very unprofessional.

The font used is very easy to read and looks great on mobile. The only thing I found kind of annoying is the product counter.

On mobile, it takes up a lot of the screen when stacked on top of the button.

When I clicked on the Buy It Now button, it took me straight to the checkout page, skipping the cart page.

This is an interesting feature not many premium themes offer on their store and it’s great to see Booster Theme has taken it into consideration.

Mobile Friendly

The Booster theme is optimized for most modern smartphones and has made it easy to shop on mobile devices.

The theme will automatically detect and adjust its layout to fit on any size screen perfectly.

If you’re dropshipping, most of your marketing will be invested on Facebook and Instagram ads. Your customers are more likely to be using their mobile devices when they see your ad.

You can display the product price, sale price, countdown timer, product variations and add to cart button above the fold to minimize scrolling.

Studies have shown mobile traffic is increasing rapidly, so it’s best to have a theme that will keep your store compatible with the latest technology. Source..

Direct to Checkout

This is a very useful feature I have seen used on a small number of Shopify themes.

Enabling this feature on the Boost theme will allow your customers to skip the cart page and take them straight to the checkout page where they enter their shipping and payment details.

The fewer steps a customer needs to complete a transaction on the front end of your store, the more sales you will be able to generate with ease.

Social Proof Sales Notification

When enabled, these popups will be displayed on the left corner of the screen which shows recent customer purchases.

Yes, these are fake, however, it helps provide social proof and increase trust for new visitors to your website.

These popups can also create a sense of urgency for products currently on sale, persuading the customers to buy from your business more quickly.

I personally find this feature annoying every time I see it used on an e-commerce store.

Use these popups with caution.

Countdown Timer

This is another scarcity tactic used on Shopify stores to create a sense of urgency. You can set the timer to start from any time, but remember to be reasonable with it,

If you set it too short, the timer will end too soon. This will look kind of strange if the customer can see the product is still in stock or the discount is still applied to the product regardless of the timer.

Visitor Counter

You know that feeling when you walk into a store and it’s just you and the employee, feels kind of lonely and awkward…

Having a fake visitor counter can help new customers feel more welcomed on your store.

Enabling this feature will make your store look more popular and trustworthy.

This feature can be useful for new drop shippers with a new Shopify store.

I personally wouldn’t use this feature on more own store but it would be interesting to test to see if there are any difference in your conversion rate.

Cross Sell Pop up

This feature is great for increasing the average or value on your store. The popup will recommend related products before a customer checkouts.

For example, if a customer is purchasing a tent, you can upsell them a torch or a foldable chair since they are most likely going to be outdoors.

You can add and display up to 6 products.

Currency Converter

The currency converter in the Booster theme will automatically change product prices based on the customers Geo Ip.

For example, say your business is setup in the United States, by default the prices on your store are set to USD.

If someone from Australia views your store, the prices will be displayed in AUD.

This feature is useful for store owners who are targeting a global audience. It can also help increase your sales.

Most standard Shopify themes won’t be able to automatically change the prices on your store, you will have to use a third party app which has monthly fees.  

Free Plus Shipping Offer

You can offer free products on the frontend of your store. How this works is, you will offer a free product and set the price to $0.

However, the customer will have to cover the shipping costs. The strategy is to collect their email address so you can send them email marketing material in the backend.

Email Discounts

This is another popup to collect your customers’ email addresses in return of a discount code.

You can customize the popup to match your store’s branding and also adjust the timing, and which pages it should appear.

It is useful to collect email addresses from visitors who are about to leave your store so that you can later send them email marketing to make sales in the future.

Again, use this popup feature with care. You do not want to annoy your visitors with multiple popups on your store.

Product Reviews

By default, the Booster theme has integrated the Product Reviews App made by Shopify. After installing the Booster theme on your store, you will have to install the app and activate the app in the product page settings.

You can also use other review apps but it is not guaranteed to work with the Booster theme flawlessly.

High Converting Product Page: Booster has kept their product page design minimal, allowing the customer to focus on the product images and add to cart button.

With fewer distractions, customers can decide to make a purchase more quickly.

Mobile Responsive: The theme looks great and performs very well on mobile devices.

You can tell the developers have a great team with creating a theme that is so fluid.

Navigating the store is easy and intuitive.

Multi Language: Booster can be translated into a different language regardless of your location.

Support: Besides having a great product, Booster has a support team ready to help with operating the theme.

Video: According to the sales page, you can also upload a video onto the home page banner.

Only a small number of standard Shopify themes have this feature.


What are the negatives?

Besides all the amazing features that are included with the Booster theme, let’s take a look at some of the negatives.

Firstly, if there are any future updates for the theme, you will have to reinstall the theme again on your store and reconfigure everything again.

This can be quite annoying if you’re making consistent progress and have to a pause on everything just to make changes to your store.

Secondly, some of the themes included in the Booster theme can be found for free on the Shopify app store.

If you do not need all the apps that come with Booster theme, you can find alternatives for free instead of paying the $179 for a single license.

Thirdly, since the theme is quite popular, so it is important for you to customize the theme so that it looks different from your competition.

If you’re a beginner at dropshipping, your products will most likely be similar to your competition. It is also a good idea to be selective about the features you enable on your store.

Customers can easily pick up if a store is dropshipping products from overseas when they see

Too many popups on your store can make it look unprofessional and very distracting while browsing.
