Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is the most important aspect of building a website.

It is the process of doing things in the website’s backend and front end, so users and search engines like Google will like your page.

On-page SEO are actions that prioritize how users and in particular, search engines rate your site and web pages.

Tags refer to the keywords incorporated in a specific element of a page.

This is used to help search engines identify the context of your website. 

Here are some of the types of tags that you should pay attention to:

  • Title Tags– these are the tags that you can see in the result pages of a search engine. These are the links that you click upon viewing a website. Your keyword must be in the title tag, so search engines and users know what your article is about. 
  • Header Tags – on the other hand, header tags are the supporting tags for a website’s title. This should be related to the title tag, but the content should not be entirely similar to the former.
  • Meta description  this particular type of tag that contains a summary of your blog post or page. This is the small snippet of text that Google shows right below the title tag. 
  • Alt Text – this is specifically designed to add HTML descriptions to a media element. An ALT text is a text you use for an image. This helps visually impaired individuals understand what the image is. Search engines also cannot see an image. Instead, they read the text of the ALT text. Put your keywords in the ALT tag to improve your ranking.

  • Mobile Optimization  today, you should never build a website that is not mobile-optimized. What does this mean?

Here are the elements that are included in off-page SEO:

It can be your home page, product page, or blog page. 

Why is this important? A backlink is a vote of confidence.

If a website links to you, it means that you offer valuable information and that your information is credible. 

Search engines count the number of links that your website gets from different domains.

The more backlinks you have, the better your authority is going to be.

  • Broken links – this is a process where you look for blog pages that have links that no longer work. If you find any, you can write to the web owner and say that he can replace that backlink and link to you instead.

  • Guest Blogging – this is a process where you write a blog post, and then publish that in another website. In that blog post, you have an anchor text and a link that comes back to your website. Off-page is a little more difficult than on-page, but it is equally important.
