The first piece of the puzzle is deciding on the products you want to sell. Then sourcing your products, setting up your store and sending traffic with some paid ads.

With an increasingly competitive digital market, where companies are trying to grab your attention.

There are things you should do when you’re persuading customers to purchase your products whether they are physical or digital.

However, conversions don’t just happen on their own. You could be sending hundreds of visitors to your store.

But if your website looks untrustworthy or difficult to navigate, you’re not going to make any sales.

In today’s post, I will share with you some quick tips you can use to optimize your e-commerce store for improving your conversions and make more sales.

Branding Your Products

If you’re a drop shipper, most of your products will have generic names coming from the supplier. Have a look at these two examples.


You can find a similar blendjet portable blender from Aliexpress. If you were to put them side by side, which one would you buy, knowing one is branded and the other one is not.

Branding will also set you apart from your competitors. In short, a brand is how a customer perceives your business. 

You can include packing slips with your logo or custom packaging to make your business more memorable.

Keep it Simple with Apps

Apps make our lives so much easier when it comes to e-commerce. They save us time by automating important tasks which generate us money.

They can also save us money from hiring a developer to code a feature we need.

However, installing a lot of apps on your website can do more harm than good.

The more apps you have, the more time it will take for your website to load. A slow website is very dangerous.

People these days have a short attention span. If your website takes longer than 3 seconds to load, they will hit that back button and you not likely to see them again.

Also using a lot of scarcity apps and pop ups can make your website look very scammy and unprofessional.

There’s a lot going on here!

I have seen a handful of drop shippers who have way too many pop ups all over their website.

  • Just keep it simple. It can also help you save money on some paid apps.
  • Delete Unnecessary apps
  • Remove unrelated products. The more products you import into your store, the more work you have to do. E.g product descriptions, editing images, branding…
  • Hire a developer. If you’re unsure about something, you can always hire a professional.
  • Compress your images using a website like Big sized images will slow down your website loading speed.

You can also use a website like x,y,z to check your website loading speed. This gives you a good indicator of what you can optimize on your store for a faster website.

Create Your Own Product Videos

While most drop shippers will use the same images and videos from their supplier, you can stand out and have a competitive edge by creating your own product videos.

These videos can also be used for testing products with ad platforms like Facebook and Instagram.

Since you will most be driving traffic to a single product, you can use your own footage to demonstrate how the product works as part of the product page.

Customers can’t physically touch the product so they must rely on the product information you provide.

Here is a quick tip for finding content for your videos.

Head over to Youtube and enter a keyword related to your product. For this example, I will use the pocket fishing rod.


After searching for your keyword:

Click on FILTER > FEATURES and click Creative Commons. This will filter out all the content we have permission to edit and reuse for own videos.


Have a look to see if there are any videos related to your product. Have a bit of a scroll to see which video has potential which you can download.


I later found this video and double checked if it is under Creative Commons. All good to go!


If you do plan on making your own product videos, I suggest you try and find a similar product from Amazon since shipping will be faster compared to making a purchase on Aliexpress which can take over two weeks to be delivered to you.

You can also find an Instagram influencer and send out the product to them to test. This can work out great if they are able to make a shoutout for your product on their own Instagram page.

It can be a quick marketing investment with a high ROI. is also a great place to find freelancers who can create a demonstration video about your product.

Answer Questions Related to Your Product

Shopping online is a different experience compared to walking into a retail store.

You can’t physically touch the product so you have to rely on the information provided on the product page.

If your customers become hesitant about making a purchase or they can’t find the information they are looking for, they will most like hit the back button or open and new tab and shop at a competitors store.

A quick way of finding specific questions for your product is to head over to Amazon and have a read of the FAQ and customer reviews.


If you notice a pattern with the questions and reviews left by other people, you should rewrite these questions and answers and add them to your product descriptions.

You can also use an app to add an extra FAQ’s tab to your product page.


Having Reviews on Your Product Pages

Displaying reviews is a must if you want to succeed with e-commerce. Reviews create social proof and trust.

It also persuades your visitors to buy from your store since people are more likely to make a purchase if it is recommended by another person.

You can use an app like LOOX Reviews to display reviews on your product pages and website.

LOOX can also help you import reviews from Aliepxress.

Just make sure it does not have broken English. You only want the best.

Private Labeling Your Products

This is more of a longer-term investment if you have found a winning product and it is consistently making you sales.

You can purchase the product in bulk and get the supplier to print your own branding on the product.

They can also manufacture custom packaging to suit your business’ branding.

It’s always a good idea to ask them to supply you with high-quality photos of your product.

This saves you time from taking your own photos without worrying about needing fancy equipment.


Optimize for User Experience

With more people using smartphones, it is important to make sure your website is optimized for multiple devices.

Since you’re most likely going to use Facebook Ads for your traffic, your potential customers are most likely going to see your ad on their mobile device.

If your website is not optimized for mobile devices, your customer will have a poor shopping experience and most likely will not return to your store.

For example, if your website takes too long to load or navigating around your website gets too confusing, your customer will most likely leave your store and shop at a competitors store.

Let’s start off with the Hacking Shopify Dropshipping sales page. I had to resist hitting the back button on my browser multiple times.

Would you really trust paying someone for a course with a website looking like this?

Notice how Hayden likes to show a lot of sales figures but never talks about the real profit he makes after his expenses.

If he claims to be making hundreds and thousands of dollars in his YouTube videos, why not hire someone to create a professional landing page?

Like many YouTube gurus, you will see Hayden driving his expensive cars and flying in private jets. This is a marketing tactic to hook you into buying their overpriced courses.

Hacking Shopify Dropshipping Course Overview

In total, there are 5 modules in his course. Each module includes a couple of videos averaging a few minutes each.

You will have instant access to this course on the Teachable platform after making a payment using either PayPal or credit card. As a student, you will receive high-quality videos on both desktop and mobile. You can access these videos almost anywhere with an internet connection.

I will summarise each module to give you an idea of what to expect from this dropshipping course.

Module 1 – Introduction


This module starts off with 2 videos of Hayden explaining what the course is about and how you can avoid the mistakes he made in the past.

He talks about the type of mindset you need to have in order to succeed with dropshipping. This includes:

  • Treating it as a real business.
  • Investing money into your business
  • Investing your time
  • Putting in work.

Short and simple.

Module 2 – Fundamentals


In the first video, Hayden explains what dropshipping is for 4 minutes. I’m pretty sure you know what drop shipping is before spending your money on a paid course.

To save you time, just Google it.

The next few videos in the module will show you how to:

  • Pick a niche
  • Product selection
  • Finding suppliers using Aliexpress

He also talks about picking a platform and the type of offers you can promote on your store to attract more customers.

Hayden also shows you how to find winning products using one example. This part of the tutorial could have been better with different products from different niches.

Like many dropshipping courses out there, this course will focus on using suppliers from China.

There are advantages and disadvantages of using suppliers from China but I will save that for another post.

Module 3 – Building Your Base


You’re now halfway through the modules.

In the next few videos, Hayden will show you how to:

  • Create and set up your own e-commerce store using Shopify
  • Picking a store name and designing a logo
  • Configuring apps and optimizing your store
  • Pricing products
  • Setting up a Facebook and Instagram account

He also shows you how to set up a Facebook pixel to help you collect data for future retargeting.

This module is very easy to follow along. Most of this info can be found on youtube anyway.

Module 4 – Instagram


I found this module very informative and the content very easy to understand. I guess the short videos help with keeping the audience engaged compared to longer videos.

Hayden shows you how to create offers which you can promote by finding Instagram influencers. He also teaches you how to contact these influencers and how you can negotiate a good price.

The final videos in the module teach you how to scale successful Instagram shoutouts and automating the process with Instagram marketing.

The final few videos include how to know whether your shoutout was a success and how to scale things up further, automating your Instagram setup and transitioning into Facebook.

Module 5 – Facebook


The final module focuses on the Facebook Ads platform and goes for around 40 minutes in total. Like most courses I’ve seen, learning about Facebook and Facebook Ads usually requires a lot of content and time.

Hayden will walk you through the different types of campaigns and what kind of budget you should stick to when using Facebook ads to drive traffic to your store.

He also teaches you how to create a page post.  However, it seemed as though he rushed through the tutorial. You might have a bit of confusion if you are a beginner.

It would have helped his audience if he was able to use a product as part of the demonstration. You will find more in-depth tutorials on Facebook ads on YouTube.

Hayden will also teach you how to:

  • Build a campaign and analyzing the data
  • When to stop a campaign
  • How to test dropshipping products using Facebook Ads
  • How to scale winning ads
  • How to use LookALike Audience (LLA) to increase sales
  • Retargeting Ads

You will also learn why most Facebook campaigns fail and how you can avoid these mistakes.

It was quite strange to see the course end so abruptly. There were no indications of Hayden updating this course or sharing future strategies for his students.

The course comes with a 24-hour money back guarantee as long as you have only viewed less than 25% of the course. I usually steer away from courses with a money back guarantee’s like this.

Either Hayden isn’t too confident with his course, so he is trying to reduce the number of refunds he has to give, or he is trying cash out as quickly as possible.

If you do want a refund you will have to contact support.

The Advantages & Disadvantages of Shopify Dropshipping


  • Drop shipping is easy for anyone to start. Low costs and barrier to entry.
  • Variety of products and niches to choose from.
  • Facebook can help scale your business fast.
  • Facebook allows you to be selective with your targeting when setting up ads.
  • You have the opportunity to sell your drop shipping business in the future.


  • You will have to deal with customer complaints, returns, out of stock issues and foreign suppliers e.g China. Even if you hire a VA, you will still have to help deal with these issues.
  • Competitors can easily steal your winning product and start marketing it themselves.
  • Profit margins are small with dropshipping, usually 20-30% after expenses. This is why you see many YouTube gurus end up selling their own courses…
  • Scaling can be difficult for physical products compared to digital products. Relying on Facebook ads can become expensive, resulting in smaller profits.

Final Verdict

Is Hacking Shopify Dropshipping really worth the $497 price tag? I would say no. There are other dropshipping courses out there which cost less and provides heaps more value for beginners.

Most of the content in Hayden’s course can be found for free on the internet by searching on Youtube.

However, I did find value in his Facebook module and I think it is quite helpful for beginners.

Remember,  screenshots of Shopify dashboard’s only show sales figures. Don’t let these gurus fool you who are claiming big numbers and flashing their fancy cars on the internet.

Always do your research first before investing your hard earned money in online courses.

How to Remove Powered by Shopify from Your Store Footer 2019

If you have bee using Shopify for some time, you may have noticed “Powered by Shopify”default text in the footer of your website.

I love using Shopify as an e-commerce platform when building online stores.

However, having this default text displayed on your website will confuse your visitors.

Removing this text is a quick way for you to make your e-commerce business look more professional.

Today I will show you how you can remove this text in a few simple steps.

Step 1

When you login into your Shopify dashboard, head over to “Themes“.

Now click on “Actions“, select “Edit code” from the drop down.

Step 2

Next, click on “Sections” and then “footer.liquid“.

Step 3

Once the code appears on your screen, depending on your keyboard, press ctrl + f (CMD + F for Mac).

A small search bar will appear. Enter “powered“.

Step 4

Once you see the text highlighted yellow, delete “powered_by_link” in between the curly brackets.

Some themes may have the same code appearing more than once.

Click on the down arrow in the search bar to find the other codes displaying “powered_by_link“.

Click on “Save” in the right hand corner when you have finished deleting them all.

Preview your store and checkout your new footer.

Method 2 – How to Remove “Powered by Shopify”

The first method I mentioned above is usually the best way of removing the default text from appearing in your footer.

However, I have found another way of removing “Powered by Shopify” without the need of accessing your theme’s code.

Step 1

When you are in your Shopify dashboard, click on “Theme” and then “Actions“.

Now select “Edit languages” in the dropdown.

Step 2

Now, type “powered” into the “Filter” search box.

You should now see some grey text under “Footer“. All you have to do is add a single space by pressing on your spacebar under “Footer“.

Doing this will remove the default text.

You can see other sections of your website which contains default text, such as Checkout & system/Checkout remember me and Checkout & system/Links.

You can do the same by adding in a single space to these fields to disable the default text.

To summarise, there are 10 modules in total. Each module has one video averaging about 20 minutes each.

It’s a short course with over $10,000 worth of bonuses self-rated by Odi.

Who is the Creator of Affiliate Marketing Champ?

The creator of the Affiliate Marketing Champ course is Odi.

I found Odi on Youtube when I was learning more about affiliate marketing as another stream of income.

You will see Odi wearing expensive clothing and showing off his cars in his YouTube videos and his websites.

I guess its part of a marketing strategy similar to other YouTube gurus. Now his ads are spamming my Facebook feed.

However, Odi does provide great content and consistently uploads new videos on his Youtube channel.

I’m positive he models his business similar to other internet marketers out there like Tai Lopez.

Affiliate Marketing Champ Review – What will you learn?

There are 10 modules in this course. I will summarise each module, and give you an idea of what to expect.

Module 1 – My Story: From UCLA Dropout to Dream Life in Just 2 Years

So the course starts off with Odi introducing himself and talks a bit about his past. He mentions dropping out of college and pursuing his goal of financial freedom.

This goes on for 20 minutes.  I’m going to let you know now, you won’t learn anything from this module so it’s best to skip it.

Module 2 – What is Affiliate Marketing and Why It’s The Best Online Business Today

In this module, Odi explains what affiliate marketing is and how it works.

I’m pretty sure you know what affiliate marketing is before purchasing any affiliate marketing course.

To summarise, affiliate marketing is promoting a company’s products or services and receiving a commission.

Commissions are based either on a fixed amount (e.g $40 per sale) or a % of a sale (e.g 20% of purchase).

Odi also explains the benefits of affiliate marketing.

These include:

  • Little to no upfront costs to get you started
  • Don’t have to risk thousands of dollars on inventory that may not sell
  • Don’t have to deal with customer refunds, complains and bad reviews
  • Can be 100% Passive Income
  • Certain tasks can be automated such as email marketing tools

Authority/Review Websites – Very effective method because people trust authority websites and brands more easily. Personal Blogs

Overall, the presentation could use some images to make the video more engaging.

Module 4 – Step by Step Plan on How to Create a Successful Affiliate Marketing Business

Odi covers how to:

Pick a niche – Picking a niche that you’re either knowledgeable, passionate about or is a pain point (you have the solution for a common problem e.g weightloss, acne etc).

Create a brand – Think long term about your business. People trust brands and authority figures. He recommends getting a logo made from Fiverr.

Starting a Youtube Channel – Youtube is the #2 search engine in the world. Your goal is to rank your videos on the first page for organic traffic. Selling through video converts much better than other media platforms.

Creating a simple website – Very brief explanation about using WordPress. This should be a module itself which would be helpful for first-timers.

Applying for affiliate networks – Odi recommends starting with Amazon Associates first because it is the easiest to get into and has the largest product selection.

However, commissions are lower but make up for it in volume since people can checkout with more than one item.

He also talks briefly about other affiliate networks such as MaxBounty, Commission Junction, Clickbank, and ShareaSale.

Finding and researching products to promote – Research what products people are most likely to buy using tools such as Google Keyword Planner. Pick keywords with buyer intent to help you find popular products to promote.

Creating content to promote products – Odi talks about the different methods of promoting products. This can include: Review video on YouTube, Comparison video on YouTube, Review/comparison article, a tutorial video showing how to use the product, Instagram and Facebook posts and videos.

Odi also talks about using paid ads to boost your videos on YouTube and collecting your customer emails using opt-in forms. This might be a bit confusing for people who have just started with affiliate marketing. Showing examples might help with any confusion.

Odi reveals the best niches to start with affiliate marketing especially if you’re a beginner.

Blogging and Web Services – Use blogs to recommend high-commission digital web services such as hosting and email marketing.

Online Courses – Commissions can be high for big ticket online courses.

Health Supplements/Fitness – Health is an evergreen market and will continue to be profitable. You can grow a following and promote a variety of products such as protein powders, weight loss pills, exercise equipment etc.

Food Blogs and Cooking – You can promote a ton of different products such as blenders, juicers, pressure cookers etc.

Credit Cards/Financial Services – Wealth is another evergreen market. You can refer people to credit cards and other financial services.

Again, you can Google or Youtube to find this information at no cost.

SEO in itself is a course that should be taught on its own.

Module 8 – How to Create an Affiliate Marketing Website from Scratch in 1 Hour

Odi will show you how to purchase your own domain, hosting and how to setup your website. Very straight forward and easy to follow along.

Odi also talks about OptimizePress which is a landing page plugin for your website. Maybe this should be a separate video.

Module 9 – How to Create a Facebook Ad for Affiliate Marketing

Odi provides an overview of setting up Facebook Ads and explains why he prefers YouTube ads instead.

You can find many tutorials on Facebook ads on Youtube for free.

Module 10 – My Top 5 Mistakes with Affiliate Marketing That I wish I Knew Before

In this module Odi talks about:

Avoiding shiny object syndrome – There are many ways to skin a cat, just like there are many ways to make money online. Choose one that fits your desired lifestyle. You would rather focus on one thing 100% than to divide your focus on multiple things.

Expecting people to buy cold – These days, the average times that a customer encounters your brand before buying is around 7 times. You need to give value first and sell after.

Not investing in paid traffic – Investing into paid traffic helps scale the business quickly. Waiting for organic traffic can take a long time especially if there his high competition.

Analysis Paralysis – Right now you know enough to get started. Research on a problem-by-problem basis, one step at a time. You will get overwhelmed trying to plan the entire business in your head. Break it up into smaller parts.

  • Easy to understand.
  • You can access Affiliate Marketing Champ on teachable. The user interface is very easy to use.
  • As long as you have a wi-fi connection, you will have access to the course almost anywhere.


  • Price is a little high for the value provided. The whole course is about 7 hours long.
  • Content is very watered down. For example, the module about SEO is very short and will leave you scratching your head. There is a lot to learn about SEO and having just one video won't be enough for someone who is just starting out.
  • His videos could use more images to break up the black and white text.

My Final Verdict

Overall, ODI Productions Affiliate Marketing Champ course is definitely not worth its price. You can find most of the information available on Youtube for free.

This course feels more like a free e-book which you can download for “Free” in exchange for your email. It’s a lot of theory, at a basic level.

Some videos were quite useful but the majority of the videos are vague and offer no value.

For example, Odi could have gone more in-depth with SEO such as article layout and user experience, backlinks, web 2.0's and the importance of social networks.

Compared to other courses in the market, Affiliate Marketing Champ falls short.

If you’re serious about making money with affiliate marketing, I highly recommend checking out Franklin Hatchett’s Savage Affiliates course.

How to Create Amazing Videos Fast with Content Samurai in 2019

What is Content Samurai and why should you use it?

So what is Content Samurai and why is it so special?

Content Samurai is a cloud-based app which allows its user to turn their written content into a video format which can be later uploaded and shared on video sharing websites.

Everyone learns differently, so it is important to have different content formats to help your audience, whether it be written, video or audio.

Today I will show you how easy it is to use Content Samurai to make your very own videos within a few minutes!

1. Logging In

After signing up to Content Samurai, you will receive your login details via email.


Clicking on “Login Here” will take you to this dashboard. The thumbnails to your left are video tutorials which are quite helpful if it is your first time using Content Samurai.

2. Create a New Video

To start using Content Samurai, click on “Click here to start using the app“. This will take you to the dashboard where you can start creating your videos.

Click on “Create A New Video” to start. On your left-hand side are the elements which make up your video.

Content Samurai makes it really easy for you to complete your first video within a few minutes.

You can also create videos for your Social Media Networks such as Facebook and Instagram.

For this example, I will choose the Sea Mist template.


3. Choosing a Template

Clicking on the template will expose the option to create your own video. Click on “Use This Template” to start adding your own content.

4. Adding Content

As you can see, we are now on the Script interface. This is where you can add a video title and video script.

For this demonstration, I will use a snippet from one of my blog posts as an example.


All you have to do is copy your article and paste it into Content Samurai.


You will have to edit the script so that each sentence will be on its own line. Too much text can cause the audience to disengage with your content.

5. Editing Your Video

After you are done editing the script, click on “Create Scene For Your Video“.


Now you are on the Scenes interface. Here, you can scroll through your video slides and check if the content makes sense.

For this slide, we can see the stock video does not relate to the script.


Just click on the slide and type in a keyword in “Search for videos” which is related to your script.

For this example, I typed “curious” and found this video more in line and related to the script.


Just click on the video and it will automatically update your slide. How easy is that!


If you have your own videos or images you like to use, you can easily upload them by accessing the “Uploads” tab.


Changing the font and colors can be accomplished by the “Style” tab.


For this example, I changed the Font Style and Highlight Text Color as a demonstration.


After editing your slides, scroll down until you see “Add Voice Track To Your Video“. This will take you to the next step.


You are now halfway to completing your first video!

This is the Voice interface of Content Samurai.

Here, Content Samurai will use its AI to add audio to your video with just a few clicks.

  1. Music only – You can use just background music.
  2. Auto-voice This option allows you to add a voice over in your video.
  3.  Record your own voice track – If you rather use your own voice, select this option to record your voice while reading your script.
  4.  Upload a voice track – You can upload your own voice track.



I like to use an automated voice for my videos. Just click on “Auto-voice” and select which voice best suits your video script.


If you’re not too sure which voice to choose from, just click on “Play Sample” to have a listen to each voice.


For this example, I chose Heidi. I think Heidi has the best-automated voice.

Click on “Preview Your Video” to add the automated voice to your video.


Content Samurai will work its magic. This usually takes a few minutes depending on how much content you add to your Script.


You are almost done!

This is the preview interface where you can:

  1. Select Music – Add music to your video. Select a music track from Content Samurai’s collection. Click on the play icon to have a listen and test out which track sounds best.
  2. Watermark – Adding a watermark can help brand your video and prevents other people from copying it. Say no to plagerism!
  3. My Music – If you’re not satisfied with the current music tracks, you also have the opportunity to upload your own music.
  4. Voice Track Volume – You can also adjust the Music and Voice track volume. If your background music is too loud, it can cause difficulty in hearing the text being read.


When you’re happy with your settings, click on “Looks Good, Continue…” to render your video.

6. Render Your Video

This will take you to the final step of the process. Click on “Generate Your Video” to complete your first video.


Rendering your video may take a few minutes. This depends on the length of your content. More words = more time.


7. Download Your Video

Once Content Samurai finishes rendering, your video will now be ready to download.

All you have to do is click on “Download Your Video“.

That’s it. You’re all done!


How to Create Videos for Social Media Networks Using Content Samurai

Turning your blog posts into smaller videos for your social media accounts can be done easily with Content Samurai.

For this example, I will use the previous video for the demonstration.

Click on “My Videos” to take you back to the main dashboard.


Now click on the video you would like to turn into a video suitable for social network platforms.

Click on “Clone“. This will duplicate the existing video for you to edit.


Now click on “Video for social media“. Here you will see the different templates which you can use to create videos for your Facebook or Instagram accounts.

That’s how easy it is to turn your written content into videos for multiple platforms.

Videos are also great for building backlinks to your website. You can create multiple videos using different sections of your blog post.

What you can do is upload your video to Youtube, head over to Fiverr and hire someone to share your video on multiple video sharing websites.
